A Springtime Portrait Experience

There’s something incredibly special about working with repeat clients, especially for golden hour sessions in the spring. Connections deepen, friendships grow, and each session becomes more meaningful. I’m especially grateful for Samantha’s continued trust in my vision. For this session, she wanted something that truly immersed her in the beauty and abundance of the spring season, and I think we captured that perfectly.

We met on a private farm just outside Richmond, VA, a hidden gem I’m fortunate to have access to. With no rush, we explored the land, selected outfits, and let creativity lead the way. One thing Samantha shared really stuck with me: she loved not having a mirror to look into. Instead, she chose her outfits based on how they felt, not how they looked. That intention set the tone for the whole session.

It’s so easy to overthink when a camera is involved - mirrors often bring out our inner critics. But, this session reminded us both that how we feel matters so much more than how we think we look. There’s something freeing about tuning into the moment, letting go of judgment, and simply being present in nature. It’s empowering, grounding, and honestly, it’s redefining what it means to be photographed.

Rooted in the natural beauty of Richmond, VA, this experience was about more than just pictures—it was about embodiment, self-trust, and connection with the earth. No mirrors, no pressure- just sunlight, intention, and presence.
