Mommy & Me In The Sunflowers | Richmond, VA

When your cousin reaches out for a Mommy & Me photoshoot in the sunflowers, how can you say no? As a family photographer based in Richmond, VA, I’ve had the privilege of documenting many precious milestones for loved ones this year, and it always warms my heart. This session, set against the gorgeous field of the sunflowers at Fresh Branch Farm just outside of Richmond, VA, was especially meaningful as I captured my cousin and her growing baby girl in my all time favorite setting.

Sunset in the sunflower fields provides the perfect backdrop for any type photography. For this Richmond, VA family session, we spent the evening picking sunflowers and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. I don’t believe in stiff, posed pictures. Instead, I love to focus on capturing authentic moments - the smiles, the giggles, the frolicking, and the spontaneous moments that make this season of life so special. These are not “look at the camera and smile” photos (although there are a few!), but rather images filled with movement and joy, as you frolic around with your loved ones.

It's all about being fully present in the moment and embracing the beauty of the season. After all, it’s not every day that your little girl turns four! Wouldn’t you prefer to have photos that truly reflect the magic of this fleeting time, rather than worrying about the “perfect shot”? The memories you’ll cherish most are the REAL ones - not the “perfect” ones.
